Counselor
Welcome to the Counselor's Corner!
My name is Shelby Maxwell, and I am the school counselor at Port Neches Middle School. As the counselor, I am here to help! My goal is to assist all students with their academic, social, and personal performance to be successful in middle school. I firmly believe that communication between parents, teachers, and students is a huge part of success.

Registration of New Students
Please call Mrs. Blount, the Counselor's Secretary, to make an appointment at 409-722-8115.
Parents are required to furnish the following:
- Proof of residency
Utility bill (electricity, gas, or water) and a signed lease.
If you are living with someone else, an affidavit will need to be completed and notarized by the resident, as well as the parent. The resident must show proof of residency with a utility bill. Both the parent and the resident must meet with the principal for approval. - Report card from previous school
- STAAR, if student attended school in Texas last year
- Birth certificate
- Social Security card
- Immunization records
- Copy of Parent's Driver License
All other records will be requested from the previous school.
Student Placement:
If you have any special needs or concerns regarding your child's placement for the next school year, please submit them in writing to Ms. Maxwell by the end of the current school year. Please mail, drop off, or email them to smaxwell@pngisd.org
Helping Hand
During the year we help our students and their families in different areas. At the beginning of the year and, as requested throughout the year, we can provide school supplies. We have a "Backpack Buddies" program that sends home filled bags of food on Fridays. We also can provide a food basket and a gift card at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
